We seek to live as JESUS asks by taking upon ourselves the call to repentance and the summons to discipleship. We envision our parish to be the means to assist us with this spiritual transformation of our lives.
We invite all members of Mater Dolorosa Parish as well as those who wish to join us in the practices of our Catholic Faith to be: a community that worships God by our prayerful and active participation in the Sacramental and devotional life of the Church, especially by our love of the Holy Eucharist, the Real Presence of CHRIST among us, by our acceptance and need of GOD’S forgiveness through the frequent confession of our sins, and by our daily prayers and good works throughout the day: at home, work, school; a community that serves one another by recognizing that each parishioner is unique and gifted, capable of supporting the Church spiritually and financially so we extend compassion to the sick and needy by word and action and invite those who have fallen away to return to the practices of the Faith; a community that lives and teaches the Truth about JESUS as the Savior of the World and the Catholic Church as the means to salvation, the sanctity of human life, the permanence of marriage and the stability of the family, the principles of love and chastity, justice and peace, the promise of Eternal Life for those who obey the Law of God and the excellence of Catholic education for our children as the best vehicle to accomplish this task.
With JESUS, the Lamb of God, with Mary and Joseph, with the Apostles and Prophets, we pray to become a holy parish family that images the Gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity entrusted to us by our Creator.
WE, THE PEOPLE OF MATER DOLOROSA PARISH, in union with our Holy Father, the Pope, under the spiritual and moral leadership of our Cardinal Archbishop, and guided by our Pastor, proclaim to all that:
JESUS, THE SON OF GOD AND SON OF MARY, the Innocent Lamb Who takes away our sins, calls us to a holiness of life as individuals and as a parish by our worship of God, service to our neighbor and moral responsibility for our thoughts, words and actions.
With Mary, our Mother of Sorrows, as our parish patroness and Saint Joseph, her husband, as our parish protector, we rejoice in the Divine Favor bestowed on us at Baptism and accept the fullness of Divine Truth revealed to and taught by the Roman Catholic Church.
